Of the eggs, whitish larvae of approximately 12 mm in length are regenerated, which bite into the leaf and eat out its interior, making the corridor down. The damaged leaf quickly dies off, twisting spirally.

New generations of adult garlic flies appear in May and June. The pest has one generation per year, therefore only winter garlic is damaged, since spring spring (at the time of laying the egg fly) does not allow green shoots.
